RRISD schools earn 115 TEA special distinctions

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]115tea-01A total of 35 Round Rock ISD schools earned 115 special distinctions from the Texas Education Agency, including six campuses that earned all available distinctions.

Canyon Creek, Caraway, Great Oaks, Herrington and Spicewood elementary schools and Westwood High School earned all distinctions in all categories for which the schools were eligible, joining more than 400 campuses statewide that also earned all distinctions.

Campus distinctions are aligned with the TEA Accountability Ratings, released in August. RRISD, as well as all District campuses, earned a “Met Standard” designation.

Distinction designations are awarded to campuses based on achievement in performance indicators relative to a group of 40 campuses of similar type, size, and student demographics, according to TEA. Up to seven distinction designations can be earned for the following achievements:

  • Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading;
  • Academic Achievement in Mathematics;
  • Academic Achievement in Science;
  • Academic Achievement in Social Studies;
  • Top 25 Percent: Student Progress;
  • Top 25 Percent: Closing Performance Gaps; and
  • Postsecondary Readiness.

The largest number of distinctions were received in the “Postsecondary Readiness” category, which earned 22 distinctions districtwide. Other top distinctions were earned in “Student Progress,” which yielded 21 distinctions districtwide and “Science” which earned 20 distinctions districtwide.

“Round Rock ISD continues to be the Destination District for Public Schools and that is clearly shown with our outstanding campuses earning state distinctions,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “While we ultimately do not measure our successes through assessments, we take pride in these accomplishments as we strive to support and continuously improve for our students.”

The following campuses and its respective distinctions are listed below:
