Mrs. Billings’ 5th Graders Explore Strange New Islands

Mrs. Billings’ fifth graders created treasure maps for their own island using Google Slides. Mrs. Billings and Mrs. Rollans loved helping the students create their own drawings using the drawing tools in Slides and watching some of the amazing, crazy, and innovative islands take shape. Students had to think about different land forms and where those land forms made the most sense on an island. One student realized that a peninsula would work well on the interior of the island. They also had to make sure their maps had all of the correct parts of a map, including a legend and a compass rose.

Way to go fifth graders! I can’t wait to find the treasure on your new islands. Let’s all set sail today!
