The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores hosted the groundbreaking of Middle School No. 11 on March 3, 2016.

The event, held at the campus’ location on Pearson Ranch Road in Austin, celebrated the start of construction for the school, which is slated to open in August 2017. The Board of Trustees voted in November to approve a $34.2 million construction contract for the project.

“As Round Rock ISD continues to grow and thrive, we are excited to open a new school and create more innovative opportunities for students to succeed,” Flores said. “Our team looks forward to working with staff and community stakeholders as we design programs in support of our drive to become the destination district for public schools.”

Middle School No. 11 was approved in the 2014 Bond, totaling a combined $49,833,032. The new middle school will have a floor plan similar to Walsh Middle School and includes an in-school dance gym and an additional ensemble space in the fine arts wing.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of Round Rock ISD,” Board of Trustees President Paul J. Tisch said. “The joint efforts of the 2014 Bond and the 2015 Strategic Plan have created a pathway for Round Rock ISD to offer students the best facilities and educational opportunities in Texas.”

The school will alleviate over enrollment at Walsh and Cedar Valley middle schools. Boundary meetings and discussions will start this spring and a decision will be made in the fall of 2016.
