The seventh annual Battle of the Bluebonnets challenged teams of four students from all 34 elementary schools within Round Rock ISD to test their knowledge of 20 Bluebonnet Award-winning books.

The team from Caraway Elementary School, which consisted of third-grade students Spencer Castellani, fourth-grade student Lia Segrest and fifth-grade students Zach Hobbs and Greyson Letendre, took home the winning trophy for the third year in a row. The team of students from Caraway will house the traveling trophy on campus and get an on-field recognition at the 2017 Junior Sluggers Kids Club at the April Round Rock Express game celebrating reading.

Blackland Prairie Elementary School earned second place with a team consisting of fourth-grade student Zaki Patwa and fifth-grade students Katerine Bong, Allie Seely and Elyssa Rey. England Elementary School won third place with a team consisting of fourth-grade students Nithila Karthik and Dhanvin Adabala and fifth-grade students Alizeh Manzar and Neha Thomas.

All students who participated in the Battle of the Bluebonnets received a medal.
