Each year on March 2, Dr. Seuss’ birthday, elementary school libraries across Round Rock ISD become the busiest place on campus as students and librarians celebrate the beloved children’s author with events and activities. Widespread celebrations for Dr. Seuss’ birthday are part of the National Education Association’s Read Across America program.
“I’m always impressed by the creative and meaningful activities the campus librarians come up with,” said Ami Uselman, Round Rock ISD director of library and media services. “You can’t deny the joy Dr. Seuss’ stories bring to those who are reading his books or being read to.”
Brushy Creek Elementary School second-grade students joined a video chat with Galveston Aquarium and 50 other schools from across the U.S. for a Seuss-nonfiction style presentation of Clam-I-Am. Students got to see live sea creatures including clams, crabs and starfish featured in the book.
