Round Rock ISD Parents and Guardians,

This morning, you may have heard on the news or received an email from the District that the City of Austin announced a Boil Water Notice for all residents. As a number of our Round Rock ISD schools reside in the City of Austin and/or utilize the city’s water system, our District has been working since the early morning to ensure that all students and staff members at affected campuses have access to clean drinking water to remain hydrated and are given the resources needed to continue the instructional day as uninterrupted as possible.

Our Operations Department provided drinking water to all campuses throughout the day, and we appreciate the support of parents and community members who brought bottled water to the campuses. Understanding this situation may last several days, we have a plan in place to continue to provide drinking water at the campuses. We are utilizing large 40-gallon containers and sourcing as much bottled water as possible. Donations are welcome and can be dropped off at affected campuses. (See list below.)

To conserve this precious resource as much as possible, it would be helpful if parents could send students with refillable water bottles, filled with either bottled water or tap water that has been boiled for at least three minutes. If this is not possible or a hardship we fully understand.

Cafeterias have adjusted their menus to minimize the need for water and have clean, boiled water available when necessary.

The Boil Water Notice is partially a result of the recent increase in rain and flooding our region has seen. Rain is expected to continue this week and may bring the possibility of heavy downpours on Wednesday. Round Rock ISD will continue to monitor the weather, follow its inclement weather procedures and will notify the community if there are any changes to the instructional day.
