Students at Fern Bluff Elementary School are helping one another create a healthier lifestyle by sharing some of the dos and don’ts when it comes to health.

The campus hosted its annual Health Walk, which allowed students to visit different booths about various health related topics and learn more about its importance. A student led program, fourth and fifth grade students designed what the day would look like by proposing their ideas for booths.

Ideas were selected based on relevance, and the goal was that by having the students lead the event, they are able to build leadership skills and confidence.

“This is a great opportunity to be a leader and it helps me become a better one because I have to teach younger students,” Fifth Grade student Maddie White said. “It’s not everyday you get this opportunity, and it’s not everyday you get to learn something new about leadership.”

Booths topics included exercise, a balanced diet, crosswalk safety and prescription medicine safety.
