“We are proud to be recognized for the hard work exemplified day in and day out at Westwood,” Westwood Principal Mario Acosta said. “This and other awards Westwood has earned, such as the 2019 College Success Award from Greatschools.org and an Honor Roll School designation from Educational Results Partnership, are a reflection of our amazing students, supportive parents and skilled staff.”

Round Rock High School earned spot 907 on the national list and 99 in Texas. Both schools were recognized for maintaining a 100 percent graduation rate and high participation in Advanced Placement (AP) classes and exams.

The Best High Schools rankings identify the country’s top-performing public high schools with a goal of providing a clear, unbiased picture of how well public schools serve all of their students, from the highest to the lowest achieving. U.S. News begins its process by reviewing more than 23,000 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. That number was reduced to 17,245 schools that were eligible to be ranked and were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
