Forest Creek Elementary School has achieved a Level 1 certification in the Marzano High Reliability Schools™ program for creating a safe and collaborative culture.

The High Reliability School (HRS) program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. Using a research-based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor and confirm the effectiveness of their schools.

According to the organization, Level 1 certification means Forest Creek Elementary School has created a “Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture,” which is the foundation for every level of certification that follows in the program. They also state that without such a culture, student achievement can be compromised.

“This certification is the result of Forest Creek’s dedication to educating students at a high level in a safe and inviting environment,” Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D. said. “This important work is creating a campus-wide culture of building a strong community to educate our world-class students.”

To be certified, schools must collect data and validate their performance to climb each level of the hierarchy.  Day-to-day school operations are also addressed and evaluated in Level 1. Certification is determined by Marzano Research analysts in cooperation with school data teams.

Using the HRS framework and indicators, schools can drive sustained, positive and significant impacts on student achievement by synthesizing multiple complex initiatives into one harmonious system, according to Marzano Research.
