The Round Rock Empty Bowls Festival is an effort by Round Rock ISD students to fight hunger in the greater Round Rock area.

At the family-friendly event, festival guests select hand made bowls of all sizes, shapes, and colors created by student potters from across the District. Guests will also enjoy wheel-throwing demonstrations, a silent auction, and student entertainment.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cedar Ridge High School, located at 2801 Gattis School Rd. in Round Rock.

There is a $10 suggested donation to purchase a one-of-a-kind bowl. The purchase of a bowl includes a lunch meal of soup, bread, and water or lemonade. The modest meal represents the reality of hunger experienced in our community and community at large. Local restaurants and bakeries donate soups and bread.

Proceeds from the Empty Bowls Festival, a service-learning project in its tenth year, goes to feed the hungry in the greater Round Rock community through the Round Rock Serving Center. The Serving Center has been operating a food pantry for 30 years and serves over 1,000 families every month.

At the same time, Round Rock ISD Parent Programs will be hosting Celebration of Families, highlighting various District resources available to parents and families.
