The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees held a workshop on Feb. 13, 2020, to discuss potential adjustments to boundaries in areas of the District and receive public feedback. The evening focused on possible adjustments to the England, Caraway, Herrington, and small portions of the Teravista attendance areas to address campus capacity and prepare for the opening of Elementary 35 in Fall 2021. Also being considered for potential adjustment are the Joe Lee Johnson and C.D Fulkes feeder patterns to address middle and high school alignment.

Recordings of the workshop and presentations will be posted on the Board Meeting website. The Board will vote on all of the proposals at its meeting on February 20.

Overviews of the workshop  discussion for each area for consideration include:

England – The Board discussed the potential England attendance area adjustments as outlined and requested additional information on the impact of grandfathering in rising fifth-graders, allowing them to remain at Elsa England if they choose. They also discussed facility resources at Great Oaks Elementary.

Caraway – Taking Bond 2018 projects and campus impact into consideration,  Round Rock ISD administration recommended that no changes be made to the Caraway attendance area. The Board discussed the pros and cons of potential Caraway attendance area adjustments as outlined and of leaving the attendance area as it stands now and moving forward with Bond 2018 projects as quickly as possible. They also discussed the possibility of allowing some students to stay even with a boundary change, with parents providing transportation.

Herrington – The Board agreed to move the potential Herrington attendance area adjustments as outlined forward for a vote on February 20.

Teravista (Chandler Creek Subdivision) – The Board agreed to move the potential Teravista attendance area adjustments as outlined forward for a vote on February 20.

C.D. Fulkes – The Board agreed to move the potential C.D. Fulkes feeder pattern adjustments as outlined forward for a vote on February 20.

Joe Lee Johnson –  The Board agreed to move the potential Joe Lee Johnson feeder pattern adjustments as outlined forward for a vote on February 20.

Round Rock ISD Administration also provided an overview of the steps that would be taken, if boundary adjustments are approved, to prepare campuses for the enrollment adjustment and how capacity relates to various campus facility functions.  This presentation, along with a recording of the workshop, will be posted on the Board Meeting website.

The Board is expected to vote on boundaries during their regular meeting on February 20, 2020. Any decisions on allowing students to remain at their current campus under a “grandfather” clause will be made at next week’s meeting.

The February 20 Regular Meeting will be held in the Round Rock High School Lecture Hall at 300 Lake Creek Drive. More information about the meeting and how to sign up for public comment are available on the Board Meeting website.
