Cedar Ridge High School has achieved a Level 1 certification in the Marzano High Reliability Schools™ (HRS) program for creating a safe, supportive and collaborative culture.

According to the organization, Level 1 certification means Cedar Ridge has created a “Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture,” which is the foundation for every level of certification that follows in the program. They also state that without such a culture, student achievement can be compromised.

“HRS Level 1 certification is a testament to the hard work of Cedar Ridge teachers and staff,” said Cedar Ridge Principal Jiae Kim. “We are very fortunate to have hardworking and committed educators here that always put students at the forefront. It shows the willingness and dedication of our teachers and staff to work together to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative culture. This tireless effort supports the learning and growth of our students and educators that work in the school community.”

The High Reliability School program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. This framework is based on 50 years of educational research, which defines five progressive levels of performance that a school must master to become an HRS where all students learn the skills they need for success in college, careers, and beyond.

To be certified, schools must collect data and validate their performance to climb each level of the hierarchy. Day-to-day school operations are also addressed and evaluated in Level 1. Certification is determined by Marzano Research analysts in cooperation with school data teams.

Using the HRS framework and indicators, schools can drive sustained, positive, and significant impacts on student achievement by synthesizing multiple complex initiatives into one harmonious system, according to Marzano Research.
