The health and wellbeing of our community, students and staff is our top priority and we want to be sure to keep you informed of our actions to protect against the risk of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our campuses and our community.

Round Rock ISD is closely monitoring reports and information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and we are aware of today’s alert from the World Health Organization which has now designated COVID-19 as a pandemic.

Due to this news and the evolving nature of the situation, we are suspending all district-sponsored out-of-state travel for students and staff and will evaluate all travel on a case-by-case basis when we return from Spring Break. To be clear, the CDC has currently placed no restrictions on travel within the United States and our local health authorities have assured us as recently as this afternoon that the health risk is low for young, healthy travelers regarding COVID-19 for travel within the U.S. However, we are concerned about the potential of students having difficulty returning home and back to school as travel advisories and restrictions are subject to change and we are making this decision out of an abundance of caution.

As our Round Rock ISD families may be traveling over Spring Break, we urge you to stay informed by visiting the CDC website. The CDC currently recommends avoiding all non-essential travel to China, Iran, Italy and South Korea, and has placed restrictions on re-entry to the United States for anyone traveling from those countries.

Round Rock ISD encourages families to follow CDC guidelines regarding travel and to avoid visiting these countries over Spring Break. Parents of students who do travel to one of these countries over Spring Break must contact campus administration and plan to self-quarantine for 14 days after returning to the U.S., per the CDC’s guidelines. The self-quarantine days will be counted as excused absences.

During Spring Break, our Custodial Services team will be deep cleaning all campuses, district facilities and buses using hospital-grade disinfectant that is EPA registered.

Round Rock ISD is closely monitoring this situation and in touch daily with the CDC, Texas Health and Human Services and the Williamson County and Cities Health District to ensure that all students and staff are safe and updated with the latest information.
