Cory Vessa has served the District in many capacities since her children began school in 2010 and 2011. Trustee Vessa volunteers extensively at her children’s schools, was a PTA Executive Board Member and served as a member of the 2018 Citizens Bond Committee.

She serves on the Board of Directors of The Rohi Foundation, a non-profit organization that does humanitarian relief work in squatter’s villages in Reynosa, Mexico. In this capacity, she helps run many of the daily activities, aided by the fact she speaks Spanish. She also serves as a reader and Literacy Partner Coordinator for Education Connection, a local non-profit organization which seeks to use faith-based communities to assist schools in helping students read on level by the end of third grade. Additionally, she leads Moms In Prayer groups to cover her children’s schools in prayer.

She is a graduate of Trinity University and earned a Master’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs. She previously worked for the Texas Senate as a policy analyst and also worked in local and state government. Her husband, Tony, is an engineer and together they have two children; Anthony and Holly, who attend Westwood Learning Community schools. The Vessa family are active members of Grace Covenant Church, where Trustee Vessa teaches Sunday School.
