RRISD partners with ACC, Round Rock Chamber for HVAC, Plumbing career training

More skilled professionals should hit the Central Texas job market thanks to a new partnership.

Round Rock ISD has partnered with Austin Community College (ACC) and the Round Rock Chamber to start an HVAC and plumbing career training program at Round Rock High School (RRHS).

The organizations signed a memorandum of understanding for the program, which will begin this summer in the back of the RRHS 500 building. The program was created to meet the demands for individuals trained in HVAC and plumbing in the Central Texas community. Courses will be held for free to District students and employees.

City of Round Rock presents letter of intent for proposed RRISD aquatic center

The City of Round Rock has announced its intent to partner with Round Rock ISD for a proposed aquatic center, pending approval from voters in the Bond 2017 Election.

Round Rock City Manager Laurie Hadley announced a letter of intent had been established at the District’s April 20 Board of Trustees meeting, committing to a potential partnership for the aquatic center facility if approved by voters. The City of Round Rock, RRISD and the YMCA of Williamson County initially partnered for a feasibility study in 2016 to determine the need and desire for a facility in the Round Rock area. The aquatic center is included as a $22 million project in Bond 2017, which consists of funds to address the District’s needs.

Early voting for the Round Rock ISD Bond 2017 package will run from April 24 to May 2 prior to Election Day May 6.

The $572.1 million Bond consists of three propositions that address growth, innovation and safety within Round Rock ISD. Learn more about Bond 2017 and view a complete list of financial information and proposed projects on the District’s Bond website.

Early voting locations within and in close proximity to Round Rock ISD will be open daily. Williamson County locations will not be open Sunday, April 30.

Leadership RRISD is a monthly presentation series that gives community members a behind-the-scenes look within RRISD schools and District administration. The program will host eight meetings throughout the year, open to up to 35 community members who must register each month based on their interests. Participants are able to register for more than one Leadership RRISD session. Meetings will be held 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. each month from September 2016 to April 2017.
