Round Rock ISD provides, at no cost to the employee, Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD& D) insurance in the amount of $10,000 for all employees who work 20 or more hours per week. Insurance is effective the first day of the month following date of hire.

In addition to the District-provided Life/AD&D insurance, district employees may elect Voluntary Life/AD&D coverage in increments of $10,000, up to seven (7) times their basic earnings or $500,000. Employees must elect Voluntary Life to enroll in Voluntary AD&D.

New employees may purchase a Guaranteed Issue up to $200,000 of coverage not to exceed seven (7) times their basic annual earnings as a guaranteed amount within 30 calendar days of their hire date. Any additional amounts require evidence of insurability. After the 30th day of employment, all employees must provide evidence of insurability prior to receiving benefits and may only apply for life insurance during open enrollment.

Optional Life Insurance

  • Employees under age 40: .052 / $1,000
  • Employees age 40 and over: .145 / $1,000

Accidental Death and Dismemberment

  • Employee Only:  .02 / $1,000
  • Family:  .04 / $1,000

Voluntary insurance is also available for dependents.

  • Spouse: 50% of employee’s voluntary life amount up to $50,000. Any additional amounts require evidence of insurability. (same rates as employee coverage)
  • Child(ren) birth to age 26 $10,000 for $1.00 per month

Note that these services are automatically available to all active employees insured under the Basic Life insurance program, as well as to spouses and dependent children.
