Together We Can

The purpose of the “Together We Can” childcare program is to provide age-appropriate learning experiences to preschool age children ages 3 & 4, by creating an on-site childcare for district employees in an inclusive, developmentally appropriate environment in which all children experience success. The role of TWC child is to be a role model for the PPCD students by modeling age appropriate communication, social and self-help skills. This inclusive program is beneficial for both TWC and PPCD students.

General Description:
The Together We Can (TWC) Program is in partnership with the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD). Each TWC classroom is staffed by one certified Special Education teacher and two paraprofessionals. The goal is to maintain 50/50 ratio of children. However, ratios fluctuate throughout the school year based on PPCD enrollment.

  • Childcare is provided on a daily basis as per the teacher service calendar from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning on the first day of school for students through the last day of school for students. Staff development days prior to the first day of school are the responsibility of the employee.
    These days are used for staff development training for TWC staff.
  • Six hours of the day (7:30a.m.-1:30p.m.) is instructional for both TWC and PPCD. The
    remaining three hours (1:30p.m.-5:00p.m.) are allotted for nap time, snack, and developmentally
    appropriate activities.
  • Separate lessons plans, report cards and assessments will not be provided for TWC children.
    TWC is not a school readiness or academic program, it is a childcare program. Parent conferences
    may be scheduled at parent request.
  • Participation in school activities; Assemblies, Field Trips, Daily school routines (Walking in the
    hallway, library, cafeteria, etc.)
