The Round Rock ISD Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is steadfast in its commitment to address concerns of contemporary marginalized youth. We focus on delivering an equitable learning environment for every student enrolled in our schools and programs. Through the practice of equity we aim to improve student achievement and positively impact District operational outcomes and educator efficacy.

Reflective practice

Educators must reflect on their teaching practices and professional growth continuously. Reflective practice encourages educators to pause, make data-driven decisions, and commit to taking actionable steps towards creating an equitable learning environment for each student they serve.

Understand historic marginalization

Historically, groups of students have had limited educational opportunities and access, which has contributed to achievement gaps. As educators work towards improving student outcomes for all students, they must also pay close attention to those students who have been historically marginalized due to their socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, and specific learning needs.

Data analysis and practice calibration

We use data to evaluate our effectiveness to increase student learning and close achievement gaps.

Study and application of best practices

Equity work is constantly changing and evolving. We strive to continue to learn and use best practices to address the needs of our students to close the opportunity, access and achievement gap for all students and in particular marginalized students.

Fall 2017 – Equity meetings and Root cause analysis.
Spring 2018 – Equity Task Force forms and meets.
Summer 2018 – Leadership and staff professional development centers around equity.
Fall 2018 – Equity goals defined. Equity teacher mentor project launches.
Spring 2019 – Equity Task Force begins drafting District equity recommendations.
Spring 2020 Equity Task Force presents District equity recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
