Leadership Principles

Over the coming months and years, many of you will engage with the leadership principles through professional development, coaching conversations, or recognizing your peers for their exceptional leadership. In the meantime, I charge each of you with three actions in order to begin our collective journey to becoming better leaders for our students.

Round Rock ISD’s Leadership Principles set a vision for what it takes for each of us to be a successful leader and make a difference for students. In Round Rock ISD, leaders Include all, Invest in Growth, and Inspire Action. In the pages that follow, a more detailed view of each of these three areas outlines the behaviors that leaders exhibit.

The Round Rock ISD Leadership Principles were intentionally developed during the 2017-18 school year with a great deal of input from all around the District. This is a living document that represents the input and experiences of leaders from across our District through focus groups, interviews, and surveys.  As our family continues to grow as educators and leaders, this document will evolve as well to ensure that every classroom, school, and department has a strong leader to lead our One Family toward One Future.

Coach:
Invest in growth by helping to create a culture of coaching on your campus or in your department. Seek and give feedback honestly.

Prioritize:
Inspire action by managing your time to focus on what’s most important. Too often we sacrifice the important for the urgent.

Listen:
Include all by seeking input from those whom you serve or work alongside, especially those whose input is often overlooked.

Commit to equity

Intentionally monitors inclusiveness and utilizes equity and diversity as an asset
