As students in Mrs. Traci Keffales’s kindergarten class at Robertson Elementary School learned more about objects in the day and night sky, the students wanted to find ways to engage their senses and discover information that wasn’t available in their usual research resources.
The class then turned to Twitter for answers so that they could learn more from the astronauts on the International Space Station. The class collaborated to create a question, asking the experts to:
- Describe how it feels to be in a spacesuit outside the space station.
Their wondering was answered by astronaut Douglas H. Wheelock who replied, “Spacewalking is a visual & emotional ‘feast for the senses.”
Wheelock, He then directed them to an article on the NASA website for information on spacewalking.
