Round Rock ISD has named April Crawford the new principal of Canyon Creek Elementary School.
Crawford has worked in RRISD for 11 years, most recently serving as the assistant principal at Great Oaks Elementary School. Crawford previously taught first grade at Cactus Ranch Elementary School and served as the campus’ assistant principal for six years.
A graduate of Texas State University, Crawford earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in elementary education, as well as an educational administration certification.
“We are excited to have Mrs. Crawford lead the outstanding Canyon Creek community,” said Carla Amacher, executive director of elementary education. “Mrs. Crawford has a strong dedication to supporting well-rounded students and brings an extensive background serving Round Rock ISD, all of which will greatly benefit the students and staff at Canyon Creek.”
Crawford has ample training in student support programs, including Capturing Kids Hearts, which Canyon Creek has implemented into its school environment. The program invites students and staff to develop a self-managing and collaborative community where all students feel included.
“I am absolutely thrilled to serve the Canyon Creek community and strive to continue the academic excellence the campus is known for,” Crawford said. “I have a strong desire to build new relationships and can’t wait to meet the students, staff and community members.”
Canyon Creek, located at 10210 Ember Glen Drive in Austin, is the westernmost campus in Round Rock ISD and serves 417 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
