Each summer Round Rock ISD opens various sites around the district in which free meals are made available to children of the community.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and provides nutritious meals to children during the summer, when free and reduced-price school meals are unavailable. Free meals are made available to children aged 1-18 and persons over 18 years of age who are determined by a state or local public education agency to be mentally or physically disabled.
No applications are necessary to drop in and receive a meal.
“Childhood nutrition is a year around need,” said Anneliese Tanner, Round Rock ISD assistant food service director. “Bringing healthy foods to the families in the Round Rock community is what gets us up out of bed each morning.”
The Summer Food Service Program begins on June 8, 2015. To find summer feeding school locations and schedule, please visit http://www.roundrockisd.org/departments/food-services/freereduced-price-meals/.
