Grisham Middle School 
Seventh grade English students in Mrs. Weldon’s class are creating public service announcements (PSAs) on a chosen topic. Choices were using STEM cells, animal cloning and genetically modified food. Why these topics? Students are using their research skills to gather facts to support their positions as to whether these practices are morally right or wrong – this is persuasive writing. Once they write the scripts collaboratively, they are using FlipGrid to record their answers to share within their classroom. Other students will be able to respond to the persuasions with their own video response. This method also encourages good digital citizenship as they learn to demonstrate constructive criticism not often found on social media.
