After a successful pilot, Round Rock ISD is implementing a student survey program. The survey is administered three times per school year during the school day by your student’s teacher.

The survey provides the District with data that will help staff members support and respond to student needs and problems in a responsive, creative, and positive manner. This will, in turn, help students better navigate challenging situations and ensure their experiences with school are supportive and positive.

The survey program supports Round Rock ISD Board Goals and Goal 5 from Round Rock ISD’s Strategic Plan.

The student survey will include the following topics: challenging feelings, positive feelings, emotional regulation, school safety, supportive relationships in school, self efficacy, sense of belonging in school, and teacher-student relationships.

Teachers will record their perceptions of the classroom environment for their students in grades K-12. Topics covered include social awareness, self-efficacy, emotion regulation, engagement, and sense of belonging in school.

The survey questions were developed through a thorough research process that included extensive literature reviews, student focus groups, large-scale pilots, reliability and validity studies, and continued refinement.

Your student’s teacher will administer the survey in the Fall, Winter, and Spring during the school day, but parents/guardians may opt their child out of the survey if they wish to do so. The opt out process will be communicated by your students’ home campus. The Spring survey window is March 27 – April 6.

The survey may take up to 30 minutes to complete, and student participation is not required, as mentioned above. Participating students will log in to the survey tool using their unique student number. Their name will appear on the first screen of the survey. If a parent/guardian opts their child out and responses are inadvertently collected, those responses will be deleted from the survey platform. The survey program will generate data for schools to identify areas of need to address in order to serve students well.

The survey tool is a Panorama Education product. Panorama Education is an independent education technology company that partners with schools and districts to support student intrapersonal skills and resilience. Results help educators understand student perceptions of how they adapt to their school environment.

Soon, more information will be provided from your student’s campus. If you have questions that need to be answered before your campus gets in touch, please send us a Let’s Talk.
