The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved amendments to the 2023-2024 academic calendar to support dual credit students, staff and the addition of built-in bad weather days.

The first amendment moves Spring Break to March 11 through March 15 to align with the dates for Austin Community College (ACC). This supports dual credit learners who would have otherwise had to attend ACC classes during their break.

The second amendment moves the professional development day scheduled from Jan. 2 to Aug. 3, 2023. The amendment also extends the winter break for staff by one additional day. Staff will return on Jan. 3.

The final calendar amendment adds five instructional minutes to each school day, resulting in an additional two days of banked minutes. This brings the total to four instructional days’ worth of minutes built in the academic calendar. The adjustment will eliminate the need to make up instructional days or add additional calendar days due to school cancellations caused by inclement weather events. Administration is currently working to determine if the minutes can be added through adjustments within the already existing school day. If adjustments to start and dismissal times are ultimately needed to meet the approved academic calendar, the community will be notified.
