French language students from McNeil and Westwood high schools and Cedar Valley and Pearson Ranch middle schools have garnered national recognition in the prestigious 89th annual Le Grand Concours. This highly competitive event, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, tests students’ French proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

The competition, which attracted nearly 45,000 participants nationwide, is a benchmark for elementary and secondary French language learners to demonstrate their skills and compete nationally. Round Rock ISD students have showcased their dedication and talent, earning a remarkable array of awards.

One Round Rock ISD student achieved the coveted platinum medal, and collectively, the students demonstrated excellence in their study of French by winning 33 gold medals, 46 silver medals, 48 bronze medals, and 65 honorable mention certificates.

The outstanding achievement of these students is a testament to their hard work in mastering the French language, said Marie Douglass, Round Rock ISD world languages coordinator.

“It reflects the commitment and dedication of their Round Rock ISD teachers to provide high-quality instruction,” said Douglass.

Congratulations to all! Félicitations à vous toustes!
