Round Rock ISD will launch its Strategic Planning on January 22, 2015 by hosting community meetings. Parents, students, district employees, business leaders and community members are encouraged to attend one of four Strategic Planning meetings to share their vision of the future for the district’s programs and facilities.

Strategic Planning will provide a road map for Round Rock ISD over the next 5 to 10 years. In addition to the community meetings, the process will include an online survey, focus groups and a design team that will engage internal and external stakeholders about needs and expectations for the future of schools.

“Productive public schools that provide world class instruction and support for students and families require a community’s vision,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “We are excited to launch our Strategic Planning this month because it allows our team to work with our community to design learning programs and environments that will allow every student an opportunity to thrive and achieve.”

The Round Rock ISD Strategic Planning starts with a series of four forums on January 22 and 23. All district stakeholders are invited to attend these community meetings to share input regarding programs and facilities. The times and locations are as follows:

  • Thursday, January 22: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center, 5800 McNeil Drive in Austin
  • Thursday, January 22: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Hernandez Middle School, 1901 Sunrise Road in Round Rock
  • Friday, January 23: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center, 5800 McNeil Drive in Austin
  • Friday, January 23: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Deerpark Middle School, 8849 Anderson Mill Road in Austin

Community members can also provide feedback through an online survey that will launch on January 28 – February 11. The district will also host 14 focus groups representing various stakeholder groups at the end of January.

Round Rock ISD has partnered with Engage! Learning, a national leader in designing engaging and relevant learning systems, to facilitate the Strategic Planning process. The highly trained staff of Engage! Learning will collect data from the forums, surveys and focus groups, as well as lead the design team through its process.

After all of the data is collected, a design team composed of students, teachers, and community and district leaders will meet at the end of February to review the findings. The design team will be tasked with creating action steps to meet the goals established through the Strategic Planning process.

The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees will then review the proposal, which will include goals, specific result statements and action items, and vote to approve the document later this spring.
