* The Board of Trustees approved district academic calendars for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years. Each calendar contains 175 instructional days, 12 staff development/prep days, two bad weather days and the first day of school, which by state law, can’t begin before the fourth Monday in August. The approved calendars include a variance in the school schedule from past several years. Students and staff are given one week off for the Thanksgiving Holiday instead of the traditional three days off. The calendars also provide a full two weeks for the Winter Break. The last day of instruction for students on both calendars will occur during the first week of June. The district analyzed historical attendance data for Thanksgiving Break and noted a decline in student attendance on the Monday and Tuesday leading up to the break.
