Anderson Mill Elementary School has earned the Marzano High Reliability Schools (HRS) Level Two certification for showcasing effective teaching in every classroom.
The HRS program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. Using a research-based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor, and confirm the effectiveness of their schools.
Anderson Mill is one of two elementary schools within Round Rock ISD to host both the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and the Dual Language Program.
“It’s an honor to reach Level Two because this validates the systems we already have in place,” Anderson Mill Principal Trana Allen said. “It helps us look at our practices and ensures we refine what we do so our kids get our best every day.”
To be certified, schools must collect data and validate their performance to climb each level of the hierarchy. Certification is determined by Marzano Research analysts in cooperation with school data teams.
Adoption of the HRS model is an initiative for Round Rock ISD ACTION campuses, which are schools that have a higher percentage of students who are economically disadvantaged. The adoption aligns with Goal 3.2 in the Round Rock ISD Strategic Plan, which states the district will identify and address the disparities that exist in academic achievement.
“The educators at Anderson Mill consistently show a true commitment to their students and community,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “Earning Marzano HRS certifications is the latest example of Anderson Mill serving its community and leading all students to success.”
