Recognized as an emerging leader in school business, Director of Finance Sara Kohn was named the recipient of the RISE Award by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) this month.

“I am so proud and humbled to be a recipient of the TASBO RISE award,” Kohn said. “Over the years, it has been amazing to network, help and learn with my TASBO peers in school finance. I am passionate about quality K-12 education, and I look forward to many more years in this amazing field.”

According to TASBO, the RISE Award is presented to an individual whose early accomplishments, within their career and TASBO, distinguish them as future leaders in the profession. These individuals are assessed on their demonstrated leadership qualities and achievements, potential to lead the future of school business and desire to move forward in the field of school business. To be considered for the award, Kohn had to be nominated by a peer earlier this year.

“Sara is extremely deserving of this recognition and exactly the type of person this award was created to honor,” Dr. Kenneth Adix, chief financial officer said. “I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to work with her. She has a tremendous knowledge base and works tirelessly to not only get her job done, but to do whatever it takes to help others get their jobs done as well.”

Kohn was presented with the award during TASBO’s virtual conference.
