Rising Round Rock ISD freshmen can graduate with their high school diploma, certifications, and a free two-year Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS) degree, or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

Early College High School is a Round Rock ISD public school located at the Austin Community College Round Rock campus that allows students to earn their high school diploma and up to 60 transferable college credit hours, an AA or AS degree from Austin Community College in four years at no cost. Tuition, textbooks, and transportation* are included. Students get an innovative high school experience focused on academics with a rigorous course of study, 1:1 academic support, and personal encouragement. Students are active in learning clubs and activities.

Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), located at Cedar Ridge High School, opens the program to its first cohort of students in 2024. P-TECH is a public-private partnership involving Austin Community College and an industry partner that will prepare Round Rock ISD students for high-wage, high-demand career fields. Students in grades nine through 12 will experience a seamless high school and college coursework and workplace learning sequence where they will earn their high school diploma, industry-based certification, a Level 1 or Level 2 certification and/or transcripted college credit toward an Associate degree culminating in an AAS degree at no cost. Tuition, textbooks, and transportation* are included.

Eighth-grade students and their families are invited to in-person information sessions to learn more about student life and how to apply at ECHS or for the P-TECH program. Information about the IB® programme offered at McNeil, Westwood and Stony Point high schools will also be presented.

The academic rigor of Early College High School limits student participation in UIL sports and fine arts. *Students are eligible for transportation services if they reside within the District more than 2 miles from campus. ECHS and P-TECH are special programs. Students who use District transportation to and from ECHS or P-TECH may experience a more than 30-minute bus ride, multiple stops, and have their designated bus stop more than ½ mile from their residence.
