Enrollment in career and technology education courses is open to all qualified students without regard to race, color, creed, religious affiliation, sex, or handicapping conditions. Students shall be enrolled in two (2) consecutive semesters of a full year course in each career and technology education course.
Each student enrolled in a career and technology education course shall have the opportunity to participate in a youth leadership training organization appropriate to the course in which he/she is enrolled.
Tech Prep is designed to prepare students for the future. Emphasis is placed on higher-level academic courses taken in conjunction with career and technology education courses. Articulation agreements with community colleges (and some four-year universities make it possible for students to earn college credit for courses successfully completed in high school. These credits are held in escrow until the student successfully completes the requirements of the articulating college/university. The credits held in escrow are then placed on the student’s transcript, free of charge. To participate in Tech Prep, students must be enrolled in a coherent sequence of courses for a particular Tech Prep program.
Blueprint for Excellence Certificates”
Students may earn a blueprint for Excellence certificate by concentrating on courses in a select pathway. Students receiving three (3) or more credits in a pathway will receive a Blueprint for Excellence certificate. Students may receive more than one certificate, depending on the courses they take in other pathways.
The Career and Technical articulation programs are in cooperation with Austin Community College, Texas State Technical College-Waco, and Brazos Valley College.
