Elementary Summer Learning

Eligible students will be invited to the Elementary Summer Learning program. If you have a question about whether or not your child may be eligible to attend, please call 512-464-5131.

The location of where a child attends summer learning is determined by the school he/she is zoned to attend based on residency.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Limited transportation services will be available from feeder schools and some designated neighborhood bus stops.

Callison ES
Serves students zoned for Berkman, Blackland Prairie, Callison, Forest Creek, Gattis and Voigt

Pond Springs ES
Serves students zoned for Brushy Creek, England, Forest North, Jollyville, Joe Lee Johnson, Live Oak, Pond Springs and Wells Branch

Bluebonnet ES
Serves students zoned for Chandler Oaks, Bluebonnet, Cactus Ranch, Deep Wood, Fern Bluff, Great Oaks, Old Town and Sommer

Caldwell Heights ES
Serves students zoned for Caldwell Heights, Double File Trail, Herrington, Robertson, Teravista and Union Hill

Anderson Mill ES
Serves students zoned for Anderson Mill, Canyon Creek, Caraway, Laurel Mountain, Purple Sage and Spicewood

Bilingual/ESL Prekindergarten and Kindergarten
Program Focus: Students will receive language-rich, TEKS-focused instruction in this 120 hour State-mandated program.

Dates: June 5 – July 3 (Monday – Friday)
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
Location: Callison, Pond Springs, Bluebonnet, Caldwell Heights, Anderson Mill
Eligibility: Prekindergarten or Kindergarten students receiving Bilingual or ESL services in 2017-2018.
Fee: None

Language Support for ELL 1st-4th Newcomers
Program Focus: Students will receive support in developing linguistic skills and adapting to a new culture.

Dates: June 5 – July 3 (Monday – Friday)
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
Location:  Pond Springs, Bluebonnet
Eligibility: Locally identified and invited recent immigrant students who have little or no English proficiency.
Fee: None

Bridging Program
Program Focus: Students will participate in both academic learning and enrichment activities that provide hands-on, engaging programming to foster literacy skills with the goal of all students reading on grade level. Dual Language classes for students who qualify will be included.

Dates: June – July (Monday – Friday)
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
Location: Callison, Pond Springs, Bluebonnet, Caldwell Heights, Anderson Mill
Eligibility: Locally identified and invited current 2nd grade students.
Fee: None

Student Success Initiative (SSI)
Program Focus: Students will receive TEKS-focused instruction in preparation for the third administration of the 5th grade Reading and/or Math STARR assessment.  Dual Language classes for students who qualify will be included.

Dates: June 7 – June 27 (Monday – Friday)
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Location: Callison, Pond Springs, Bluebonnet, Caldwell Heights, Anderson Mill
Eligibility: 5th grade students who have not yet met standard on Reading and/or Math STAAR test.
Fee: None

Extended School Year (ESY) Services through Special Education
Program Focus: Students receive instruction in order to maintain skills in their Individual Education Plans.

Dates:  June 11-14; June 18-21; July 9-12; July 16-19; July 23-26 (all weeks are Monday-Thursday)
Hours: 7:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Location: Sommer Elementary
Eligibility: Determined by each individual ARD committee
Fee:  None

Transportation Summer Learning
Transportation for summer learning will be provided for all elementary and secondary students from designated elementary, middle school and high school pick-up locations.   Note: There is no RRISD staff supervision at the bus stops.
