Website Guidelines

Round Rock ISD’s main website and its department and campus sites are to be created and maintained using Word Press, the District’s web provider, under the management of Community Relations. All websites (with the exception of teacher websites) are to be developed and maintained inside WordPress to provide district oversight, better usability, accessible content, consistency of branding, and ease of updating information.

Visitors to the Round Rock ISD web environment must be able to determine at all times that they are visiting a portion of a District managed site. The overall design of the Round Rock ISD web environment is consistent by use of the District’s designated template. In addition, all sites within the Round Rock ISD environment must be hosted under the official roundrockisd.org domain name.

WordPress

WordPress should be used for any sites that contain district, department, or campus information that is intended to be used for public usage.

Benefits:

>> WordPress Resources for district editors

Google Sites

If you are a campus or a department utilizing an internal site for your staff or students, you may use Google Sites and restrict it to Round Rock ISD users only.

Benefits:

  • Connected to District Gmail accounts
  • Can be restricted to visibility only by Round Rock ISD staff and students

Limitations:

  •  Do not have the essential elements of the WordPress environment including branding, translation, copyright, etc.
  • They are owned by individuals who come and go and aren’t audited appropriately for outdated information.
  • Compromises the District’s search engine optimization strategy.
