Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a comprehensive system focused on educating the whole child to support all aspects of a student’s well-being, development, and learning through the use of a data-based decision-making process to identify the unique needs of each student.

Our Commitment to Our Community

“Inspiring students to learn, empowering students for life.” is the mission statement in Round Rock ISD.. To support this mission, we must acknowledge the social, emotional, and academic needs of each student. Students must be safe, healthy, engaged, and challenged to experience academic excellence. Through our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), we employ a data-based decision making process to identify and align to the unique needs of each student as well as to continuously study our systems and practices to improve our efforts.

The purpose of MTSS within Round Rock ISD is to:

  • Create a culture of excellence, empowerment, and equity
  • Provide all students with instruction and support systems to achieve and maintain high levels of academic success and social and emotional well being
  • Prioritize the work of continuous improvement to meet our goals and ensure our educational system results in success for all students

At the district and at each campus, leadership teams create structures to continuously monitor student progress. The needs of our district, campus, teachers, students, and the community is our top priority. We actively seek to gain insight from data, and turn insight into action.

Universal Screening and Data Analysis: Helping our teams to identify needs and monitor progress

To support our district MTSS processes, we administer and analyze the following assessments. These are used in conjunction with other data our teachers collect on a daily basis in working with students.

  • Pre Kindergarten – CIRCLE, reading and math universal screening
  • Kindergarten – 5th grade – Amplify mClass and Lectura – reading universal screening
  • Kindergarten – 5th grade – AimswebPlus – math universal screening
  • Grades 3-8 plus EOC tested courses – STAAR, District and State STAAR Interim assessments
  • Kindergarten – 12th grade (optional) – Panorama – student environment and self-perception universal screening
  • Prekindergarten – 12th grade – (optional) – Round Rock ISD climate survey

When our data analysis processes reveal a student has a social, emotional, or academic need, families can expect that our campuses will reach out to ensure parents are well informed and have a voice in their child’s education. If you would like to know more about the assessments your student has taken, please contact your student’s campus.

The TEA has created an MTSS Overview for additional information.
